I earned my BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2007, after first studying for two years at Pratt at Munson Williams Proctor in Utica, NY. I also attended one term at the Slade School of Fine Art in London, England.

 Much of the work on this website was created from life, and focuses on the figure and the portrait. I love painting from life because the image that is created is the result of hours of observation, and will display the subtle changes that happen in a subject over time. A live portrait sitting is hard work for the subject, but I believe that the resulting image captures more than what is immediately there.

I am inspired by artists that work from their imagination, and am working to incorporate this interest into a larger artistic vision. Recently, I have been combining drawings from my imagination with life sketches to create fantasy paintings. These fantasies are created as allegories for aspects in the real world, and can be seen in my illustration/allegory section.
